Andy William, the former drummer for the popular Christian rock band Casting Crowns, died Friday at Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee, less than two weeks after being hit by a car while riding his motorcycle.
Mr. Williams, unrelated to the 1960s pop singer, was a member of the band known for “Who Am I,” “East to West,” and other hits from 2001 to 2009. During that time, the group released three studio albums. and three albums of live concerts. Each of the three studio albums was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.

On earth, all our prayers were answered. He is healed, he is awake and we believe that he is more alive today than ever. ”

Williams’ family thanked their fans for his thoughts and prayers in recent days. “We celebrate Andy being in the arms of his Savior and we are grateful for the memories and laughter that Andy brought to all who knew him,” they wrote. “We cannot thank you enough for his prayers, support, and unending love from him. You have walked with us through this very difficult journey and we feel you there all the way.”
After Williams’ accident, Grace Chapel Fairview shared several updates on his condition. The day after the accident, Williams needed to have his left leg amputated above the knee, the church pastor said. Williams’ family also launched a GoFundMe account on July 1 to raise money for medical expenses. So far more than $ 64,000 has been raised. People keep donating to help his family. “I am sorry for the loss of his family. I hope this helps by showing him how much he touched lives through his music,” wrote a donor.

Casting Crowns was founded in Daytona Beach, Florida in 1999 and is led by Pastor Mark Hall. Williams joined the band after they moved to Stockbridge, Georgia in 2001. He left the band in 2009. Casting Crowns won the 2012 Billboard Music Awards for Best Christian Album and Best Christian Artist. In 2006, his album Lifesong won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Pop / Gospel Album.
