Olivia Winslow is the woman who was arrested after a video went viral allegedly showing a young boy having his Make America Great Again hat stolen in Delaware on August 20.

WDEL reports that the woman who stole the hat allegedly stamped on the 7-year-old’s hand while she was trying to stamp on the MAGA hat which was on the ground. The station says that one of the suspects is accused of causing a “small laceration” to the lip of a man involved in the incident. The laceration caused the man “substantial pain,” the report said.

The president’s son described the video as showing Joe Biden supporters as “viciously attacking” Riley. Trump Jr. added, “This is sick.”

Riley’s mother is a field director with Turning Point USA, a pro-Donald Trump youth movement, according to her LinkedIn page. In 2019 she was present at an event where she advocating for the recalling of New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy. She told Return of Information New Jersey that although she had some “civil discussions” she also “had a couple of people flip my table and spit on me.”

Charged and Arrested

The incident started when Amy and Winslow exited the business and began to verbally taunt the woman and her son over the political signs they were holding and attire they were wearing, according to court documents. Amy then “forcefully snatched” a political sign from the woman, documents say.

The Wilmington Police Department in a press release said that Amy was facing charges of first-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, two counts of offensive touching and endangering the welfare of a child. Amy has been arraigned and sent to Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute on a $45,000 bond. Winslow was also arraigned but was released on her own recognizance.

According to the press release, the incident took place on the 600 blocks of South Justison Street around 8:08 p.m. It involved two female suspects. The second female suspect has not been named at the time of writing. Winslow is facing charges of second-degree robbery, second-degree conspiracy, and endangering the welfare of a child. Police said that Winslow was identified as a suspect through video footage.

Investigation

In a video posted on social media, Winslow and Amy were seen damaging signs and taking a red “Make America Great Again” hat from a group of Trump supporters. A young boy in the video can be heard saying, “That’s somebody else’s hat,” after Winslow picks it up off the ground and throws it.

Wilmington police said they identified Winslow and Amy after reviewing the video footage.

“Call 911,” the boy says to his mother as the two women walk away with the hat.

Later in the video, a man attempting to get the hat back appears to be punched by the second suspect, who later throws the hat over a fence.

Court documents say Amy struck the man with a closed fist and caused a laceration to his lips.

Amy then punched the woman filming the incident, court documents say. The video ends as that is happening.

Police were called to the scene on Justison Street at the address of Iron Hill Brewery shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday on the final night of the DNC. Earlier in the night, Trump supporters outside the convention were showing support for the president.

Statement Release
